He was born in Woodbury, grew up in Port Arthur, Texas and lived here for many years. He was senior vice president of the Allen Morris Miami, for 20 years.

He was senior naval aviator on the battleship Wisconsin during World War II and was awarded an air medal. He attended Lamar State College in Texas. He was a member of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, Clearwater, and served as a deacon and elder. He earned Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and Certified Property Manager (CPM) designations. He was a member of the Kiwanis club and was on the board of directors and was president of the South Florida Red Cross.
