How to Reach the Blackmire in Enshrouded

The Blackmire lies to the northeast of Revelwood in Enshrouded. Thankfully, it isn't nearly as treacherous as the Kindlewastes or even the Nomad Highlands, so you are free to explore it quite comfortably at around levels 13 - 15. But while you don't have to be max level to explore the Blackmire, it doesn't mean it's a walk in the park. The Blackmire is filled with armed Vukah, pools of bubbling tar and mud, and new enemies that lurk within them.

The Revelwood Ancient Spire is the best place to start when setting off towards the Blackmire.

If you've already unlocked the Revelwood Ancient Spire, fast-travel to the top and head to the northwestern side. Open your map and locate the small Shrouded area northwest of the Spire. Place a waypoint there to make sure you're heading in the right direction and soar toward the Shroud.

At the very northern point of that Shrouded area lies the beginning of the Passage to the Blackmire. Once you reach that point, you are well on your way to your destination. Simply follow that road into the heart of the Blackmire and straight to the Blackmire Ancient Spire.

Of course, the journey is not as easy as it sounds, and you will encounter more than a little danger in the Passage to the Blackmire. The first section of the journey is peaceful with the exception of a couple of Boars and other environmental enemies. Take the opportunity to take in the scenery as you pass through massive root systems and hop from platform to platform on small trampolines until you reach the first of many bogs in the Blackmire.

The Blackmire is littered with pits of bubbling tar and mud. The mud not only hinders your movement if you get stuck in it but also houses large lizard-like monsters that hurl balls of soiled mud at you. The best way to tackle these beasts is with a long-range weapon like a wand, staff, or arrows. That way, you can chip away at their health without having to delve into the muddy depths yourself.

Hop your way over the first bog by leaping and gliding from one patch of land to the other until you reach a large, hollow tree trunk lying in the middle of the path. Pass through the tree trunk to continue heading towards the Blackmire Ancient Spire.

At this point, you will start encountering more enemies unique to the area, like floating balls of purple flame that can split themselves into several parts that dive dive-bomb you. You can take these out with a long-range weapon or simply dodge them as they hurl themselves into the ground and shatter on impact.

You will also pass through several Vukah encampments. These Vukah can easily overwhelm you, so try to lure a couple out at a time to thin down their ranks or sprint through if you're getting low on health and want to make it to the next fast-travel point before you perish.

However you choose to deal with the enemy encampments, continue to stay on the path and you will make it to the Blackmire Ancient Spire in no time.

Ancient Spire - Blackmire

The Blackmire Ancient Spire has become one with a giant tree that grows around and through the structure, making it one of the most unique Spires to ascend. Start by heading inside the Spire and interacting with the platform in the center of the tower.

Head through the door to the right of your starting point and enter the corridor. Inside, you will find three flaming boulders that roll through the passage in waves. Hop over the boulders as you travel up the corridor, turn left, and make your way through the door into the next area.

Here, you will find yourself faced with yet another hazard - a wall that shoots lightning toward the other side of the passage. Face the end of the corridor and turn your camera to the side. This makes it easier to gauge how close you are to the lightning so you can pass through without getting hit. Take the door at the end of the corridor and turn right, remembering to look behind the stack of barrels before heading up the stairs to find a chest.

Once you reach the top of the stairs, head through the door to the left and out of the gaping hole in the wall. At this point, you will have to start climbing up the branches and platforms created by the massive tree that has swallowed so much of the tower. Follow the platforms and branches up and to the left until you find another hole that you can use to re-enter the tower.

The platforming can be tricky in this section. Try not to glide from one branch to another, as gliding is far less precise. You will have more control if you just rely on your jump and double jump.

Once you're back inside the Ancient Spire, climb the stairs and move into the next room, where you will be greeted by more flaming boulders. Wait for the first set of boulders to pass before running into the center of the room, hiding beside the wall to stay out of the line of fire. When the next boulders pass by you, follow them around to the other side of the wall and run toward the entrance to the next room.

Head through the door on the right and out to the branches once again. Before you do, look behind the stack of barrels to find yet another chest. Continue hopping from branch to branch until you reach a large, purple flower. This flower is like a massive trampoline that will launch you directly up and onto the next one. Land on one of the large branches after the third flower to find the next hole leading back into the tower.

You can continue following the branches around the tower to reach the top or head in the hole in the wall to find a small puzzle leading to a silver chest. To complete the puzzle, head through the center room and turn right. Pass through the door on the left to destroy a purple flame enemy and hit the first switch.

From there, go straight ahead to the next mass of branches. Follow the branches up until you see a small balcony with the next switch on it. Glide or hookshot to the platform, hit the button, and make your way back out to the three doors.

Head into the door on the left to retrieve the chest before circling back to the branches. Continue following them up and to the left for a little bit more until you reach the tower's peak. Interact with the flame to activate the fast-travel point, giving you an excellent vantage point to reach almost every part of the Blackmire.

How to Rescue the Bard

Now that you have made it to the top of the Blackmire Ancient Spire, you have the perfect platform to start your search for the Bard and complete the Follow the Melody quest. Your objective in the Follow the Melody quest is to locate the Sunken Ancient City and unlock the tomb where you will find the Bard. To begin, head to the northern side of the Blackmire Ancient Tower and soar off into the trees.

As you soar through the treetops on your glider, you will see the Sunken Ancient City name pop up on your screen, along with four half-sunken temple structures. Land on the tower in the back right corner to begin your quest to release the Bard. Make your way to the front of the temple facing the Bard's location. Hit the switch there, and turn left to reach the next temple.

To find the second switch, glide to the temple on the left and climb up the tree roots and broken temple walls to get to the roof. The switch is on a small balcony overlooking the Bard's location.

From the second switch, glide straight ahead to reach the third temple and find the last button you need to unlock the Bard. Climb up the roots and crumbling walls to reach the last tower's roof, or travel through the muddy pond inside the temple until you find a grate you can climb up. Hit the button and soar straight forward to reach the Bard.

Climb up the stairs and head inside the temple to find a long, dark passage leading down into the depths of the temple. Follow the passage to the bottom and interact with the Bard's tomb to release them. From there, head back to your base and summon the Bard with your Summoning Staff to complete the Follow the Melody quest and unlock the ability to craft instruments in Enshrouded!
