Let's Go: Concerts, festivals and more summer fun happening in June (2024)

School is out, and summer is officially underway. Many fun annual events return this month, including the Bixby Green Corn Festival, KidsFest at Woolaroc, Saint Francis Tulsa Tough and OKM Music Festival.

OKM Music Festival and Kids Festival

June 4-9

OKM Music Festival in Bartlesville marks 40 years of showcasing musicians from a variety of genres. The festival is a multi-location event with professional orchestra musicians, concert artists and more, with free events just for kids.

‘Celia Álvarez Muñoz: Breaking the Binding’

June 5-Aug. 25

The retrospective exhibit of this acclaimed Chicana conceptual artist opens June 5 at Philbrook Museum of Art. The exhibit features eight large-scale installations. The installations include “Fibra y Furia,” which deals with the ways the fashion industry exploits women.

American Heritage Music Festival

June 6-8

This annual festival in Grove will feature performances by fiddler Jana Jae of “Hee Haw” fame, world champion bones player Barry Patton, Jacie and Joe Sites, and others.

The festival will include live entertainment, food trucks, vendors, fiddle competitions and more.

Pecos & The Rooftops

June 6

Country rockers Pecos & The Rooftops will perform at Hard Rock Live. The Texas-based band had a breakout single with “This Damn Song.”

First Friday Art Crawl

June 7

The Tulsa Arts District hosts the monthly First Friday Art Crawl. New exhibits include “Fiberworks 2024” at 108 Contemporary and “Simplicity In the Complexity” by Kajsa Sjodin at TAC Gallery. At Archer Studios, find the “Home on the Range” installation and experimental documentary screening and the Twisted Arts art market. At Living Arts, see “Room for Dissonance,” presented by Brandy Green-Russell; 8 Arm Designs & The Meow-Meow Collective Present “Five (5) Series About Process,” presented by Jon O; and “Moments in Time,” presented by Fahimeh Foudazi.

Many restaurants and bars are offering their usual happy hour specials and live music. Enjoy free admission to 108 Contemporary, Living Arts, Oklahoma Center for the Humanities, TAC Gallery and Tulsa Artist Fellowship.

The Marshall Tucker Band

June 7

The Marshall Tucker Band, noted for incorporating blues, country and jazz into an eclectic sound, helped establish the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s. The band has recorded and performed continuously under various lineups for 50 years. The band’s 2024 tour is called the Live on Cloud 9 tour.

Goff Fest

June 7-9

The fourth annual Goff Fest, honoring and exploring the work of noted Tulsa architect Bruce Goff, continues this week. Goff, who was mentored by the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright, designed a number of innovative buildings, from the Spotlight Theater on Riverside to the Tulsa Club building downtown. Events include a Bruce Goff birthday party, a self-guided tour through “Bruce’s Tulsa” and a performance of “The Drunkard” at the Spotlight Theater.

Tulsa Juneteenth Festival

June 8-15

In the historic Greenwood District, the annual Juneteenth celebration will be held to honor the end of slavery in the U.S. There will be a fashion show, block party, 5K and fun run, live music, genealogy workshop, wellness activities, a movie night and more.

TFA Tours: The Blue Dome District

June 8

Tulsa Foundation for Architecture leads this tour of the Blue Dome District and delve into the history, including tales of brothels and bootleggers. Hear stories of a time when downtown Tulsa was truly the wild west.

Saint Francis Tulsa Tough

June 8-9

Saint Francis Tulsa Tough, which calls itself “a three-day party on wheels,” is a unique cycling festival experience. From professional cycling races to the free and family-friendly Townie Ride to the wild party at Cry Baby Hill, there is something for everyone.

Barry Friedman

Magic City Books welcomes back Barry Friedman to celebrate the release of the second installment of the life of his father, “Jack Sh*t 2: Wait for the Movie, It’s in Color.” Friedman will be telling stories from the life of his father, Jack, and signing copies of his new book, as well as previous books.

Tedeschi Trucks Band

June 14

Tedeschi Trucks Band brings its Deuces Wild 2024 Tour to Tulsa with special guest Joe Purdy. Led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, the blues and American roots band won a Grammy Award for “Revelator” in 2012.

Todd Rundgren

June 14

Muscogee Nation Festival

June 14-22

This annual celebration is filled with activities celebrating the Muscogee people. Andrew Schultz

Comedian and actor Andrew Schulz brings The Life Tour to the Cove. Schulz’s standup and podcast content receives 30 million weekly views across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. Schulz’s podcast, Flagrant, is viewed by 4 million people per week, and he co-hosts Brilliant Idiots with radio and television personality Charlamagne tha God.

Tulsa Comic Book Swap

June 16

A Father’s Day comic book swap event will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with over 25 vendors in attendance. The event will feature comic vendors and artists. Food trucks will be on site. Admission is $5, and kids 12-under are free.

Namastreet Downtown Yoga

June 20

Downtown Tulsa Partnership hosts this free community event on Boston Avenue. Updog Yoga will lead the practice, followed by an outdoor meditation. Frios Gourmet Pops, juice from Inheritance and treats from et al. will be available.

Morris Day and the Time

With Minneapolis roots and an early association with Prince, Morris Day and The Time was originally created as Prince’s alter ego to be seen as the cool, street-wise funk band contrasting Prince’s more soulful R&B sound, according to a news release. The band also was cast in “Purple Rain.” The group’s hits include “Get It Up,” “Cool” and “Girl,” “777-9311” and “Jungle Love.”

Corey Kent

June 21-22

Oklahoma music artist Corey Kent will celebrate his 30th birthday by headlining two shows at Cain’s Ballroom. The Bixby-based Kent first performed at Cain’s Ballroom at age 11, when the band he was in opened for Asleep at the Wheel. The June 21 show is sold out.

Taste of Summer Ice Cream Festival

June 22

Come hungry: This festival features all-you-can-eat ice cream and novelties by Blue Bell Creameries, then you can burn off the calories in the “Get Active Zone” with kid-friendly sports activities. There will also be “water wars” and water inflatables, food trucks, arts and crafts, vendors and cooling stations. Tickets are $7 until the day of the event when they go up to $8. Ages 2-under are free.

AAA Route 66 Road Fest

June 22-23

Celebrate all things Route 66 at this event with interactive history exhibits, hundreds of classic cars, family-friendly activities, vintage RVs and more. Richard Rawlings, star of the popular reality TV show “Fast N’ Loud” and founder and owner of Gas Monkey Garage, will be at the Road Fest on Saturday and Sunday engaging with fans and participants.

Kidsfest

June 22-23

This annual festival features arts and crafts, games, live music, inflatables and more. There is no extra charge for Kidsfest, as it is covered under the price of regular admission to the museum. Craft and food vendors are an additional cost.

Mo Rocca

Mo Rocca returns to Tulsa for an event in celebration of his new book, “Roctogenarians,” which is a collection of profiles of late-in-life achievers, such as artist Henri Matisse, who began work on his celebrated cutouts when he could no longer paint, and Mel Brooks, yukking it up at close to 100.

Bixby Green Corn Festival

June 27-29

The 50th annual Bixby Green Corn Festival celebrates the area’s agricultural heritage with family fun. The Green Corn parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27 and is followed by live music. Free roasted corn is available while supplies last. On Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29, find food, games, a carnival, craft booths, contests, bingo, fireworks, box turtle and bullfrog races and more.

Jay Huckleberry Festival

June 28-July 6
