Auto Auctions Open to Public Buyers
Public Buyers, or those without a qualifying business license, can bid on and buy vehicles available to the public and access user-friendly search tools to help them view only the vehicles they’re eligible to purchase. Although there are regulations that vary from state to state, Public Buyers have a wealth of great inventory and buying opportunities available to them, and different options when looking to bid and buy.
Public Auctions
Registered Public Buyers have plenty of inventory available to them in regions or states where they are eligible to purchase directly without using a Broker. We provide a convenient breakdown of each state’s regulations to help you build a bidding strategy and information about how to register when you’re ready. Take a moment to review this information to see if you want to buy directly or prefer to bid through a broker.
Licensed Brokers
Did you find your Dream Ride only to learn that it isn’t open to public bidding? No worries! We suggest complementing your Public Buyer account with the assistance of a Licensed Broker. Brokers are a reliable option to obtain inventory when regulatory barriers are in place. Licensed Brokers can help you or your business not only buy the vehicle(s) you need but can also assist with payment, customs, and shipping to both domestic and international destinations. You can browse our list of approved Licensed Brokers below:

Available Inventory
Every piece of IAA stock up for auction includes a Vehicle Details Page that lists which auctions the stock will be featured in, as well as which Buyers are able to place bids. We’ve made finding public inventory quicker and easier than ever. Simply select “Available to Public” on the Search page or click the “Public Auctions” box on the Locations page on IAAI.com or in the IAA Buyer App.
Payment & Pickup
Knowing when and how to pay for your vehicle(s) can help you avoid storage fees. IAA offers several convenient options to pay for your won vehicles, including PayPal and Wire Transfers. Please note that all payment options may not be available for all account types. Visit the How to Pay page for a complete overview of payment options available to Public Buyers.
Payment is due by 5:00 p.m. local branch time two business days after a vehicle is awarded for U.S. domestic buyers, and four business days after for non-U.S. buyers. A daily storage fee will be added once the time limit is reached. You can view storage fee info on any Branch Details page on IAAI.com.
You can also find information on vehicle pickup hours and branch contact information on the Branch Details page. Branch yards close earlier than the office to allow extra time for pullout/loading so please plan accordingly when scheduling pickup. Vehicles can be picked up on sale day.
Vehicle Transportation
Will you need delivery of your won vehicles? Short haul? Long haul? IAA has you covered! Transporting vehicles from our yards to their final destination is easier than ever with IAA Transport™. IAA Transport allows you to quickly schedule your tow at checkout, saving you time while halting the accumulation of storage fees. You’ll also enjoy real-time status updates to track your vehicles during every stage of the towing process. You can even generate a free delivery quote from an eligible vehicle’s VDP page prior to purchasing.
