Most people stop watching cartoons once they hit adolescence, but not with anime otakus! So while there are some who grew up watching their favorite anime morning shows before elementary school, there are some who just never stopped watching them.

1. Your Lie In April
The story follows Kosei Arima, a piano prodigy whose fame was cut short as a child, following his mother’s death. The trauma of his mother’s passing rendered him musically decapitated, and unable to hear his music. But all this changes when he meets Kaori, a free-spirited musician who makes it her mission to get Kosei back on stage.
2. Fruits Basket
High school student Tohru Honda was forced to fend for herself after her mother passed, leaving her no choice but to move into a tent, which she did not realize belonged to the Sohma Clan. Realizing her situation, the family welcomed her into their home, where she later find out about the curse that the Sohma Clan is under.
3. Kakegurui
Kakegurui is set in Hyakkaou Private Academy, an institution for Japan’s top elite and privileged. However unlike any other educational institution, this academy puts focus on honing the students’ skills to get ahead of their opponent and offers an extensive gambling curriculum.
The lives of the students get shaken up when transfer student Yumeko Jabami, comes in and shows them the tricks of a true-blue high roller.
4. Violet Evergarden
Violet is a humanoid whose life purpose was solely to be used as a weapon for war. Now that the war is over, she takes the opportunity to work as a doll ghost writer who writes letters, and in the process learns more about her country’s past and herself.
5. Haikyu
Shoyo Hinata, a junior high school student, gains a sudden interest in volleyball after seeing a game on television. Despite being short in height, he pursues to become like his favorite player nicknamed “Little Giant” and joins his school’s volleyball team. He forms an unexpected alliance with another volleyball player, Tobio Kageyama, and together they embark on a journey towards the national championship.
6. Food Wars
Aspiring chef Toma Yukihira enrolls in the prestigious culinary school, Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute, where students engage in food competitions called shokugeki. There, he makes friends with his peers and challenges Totsuki’s students in shokugeki competitions as he strives to become the best at the academy.
7. InuYasha
The story follows InuYasha, a dog-demon, through his endeavors as he seeks a powerful jewel called the Shikon Jewel. He resides in a forest close to the village where the jewel is being protected by a priestess named Kikyo.
8. Bleach
Hot-headed teenager Ichigo Kurosaki has the ability to see ghosts, an ability he had inherited from his parents. When his parents were killed by a Hollow (a lost soul), he became the Soul Reaper whose purpose is to protect the innocent and help tortured souls find their peace.
9. Hunter X Hunter
Gon Freecs grew up thinking both his parents were dead, however he finds out through Kite that his father is actually still alive and has become a well-respected Hunter. After learning this, he leaves his home to take the Hunter Examination in hopes to find his father, and befriends applicants along the way.
10. Neon Genesis Evangelion
Originally released in 1995, this series is considered one of the all-time favorites by anime lovers. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world and follows Shinji Ikari as he reluctantly joins a squad of pilots under the command of his domineering father to help save the earth.
